St. John Fisher College Visiting Assistant Professor - Med/Surg in Rochester, New York


The Wegmans School of Nursing invites applications for a full time, 12-month, on-campus, term faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level (with title of Visiting Assistant Professor)

Job Responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate and graduate students in classroom, simulation learning center, online, and clinical settings

• Engage in an active program of research/scholarship

• Engage in various service activities within the school, College, the profession of nursing, and the community

• Maintain clinical and academic expertise

• Plan student learning experiences in achieving desired learning outcomes

• Plan, develop, and implement evaluation tools to assess student progress

• Participate in curriculum development

• Participate in meetings and other activities that advance the mission and goals of the school and College

• Other duties as determined by the Dean and Department Chair

The nursing programs in the Wegmans School of Nursing at St. John Fisher College are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education ( CCNE ). The teaching load is 30 contact hours per year (12 credits for both Fall and Spring and 6 credits for Summer); options for summer teaching exist.

Education / Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

• PhD or DNP in Nursing, conferred by the time of hire

• One graduate degree must be in nursing and from an accredited institution ( MSN or a PhD in nursing)

• Active unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State, or ability to obtain by date of hire

• Two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent, professional nursing clinical experience

Preferred Requirements:

• Two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent, academic experience in undergraduate or graduate nursing education

• Previous experience with curriculum development and evaluation

• National certification in an advanced practice role such as a Family or Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner or Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist

• Previous experience with conducting online teaching

• Established record of scholarship/research publications

• Established record of service
