University of Rochester Web Services Proj Asst in Rochester, New York

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is being offered as one of a number of positions being coordinated under the umbrella of the University IT Internship Program in the summer of 2024. As a result, while the emphasis will be on individual experiences based on a position description provided, the group will be organized as a starting cohort and meet approximately every two weeks. The emphasis of this cohort experience will be to expose all participants to multiple facets of the Information Technology environment at the University of Rochester. These sessions will combine presentation by IT professionals and group discussion to broaden the learning experience. All students will also be asked to prepare a poster session at the end of the program. This will provide program participants an opportunity to link classroom learning to the practicum, as well as formalize thoughts and service recommendations to the IT organization.

Project Assistant will work under the direction of the Assistant Director of Software Engineering | Consulting & Data Services

NOTE: The timeframe for this role is June 3 rd – August 9 th, 2024

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet with stakeholders and Software Engineers to define requirements and solution design

  • Develop solutions using a variety of tools including (but not limted to)

  • the Low-Code / No-Code platform Boomi Flow

  • WordPress / Gravity Flow

  • PHP / HTML / CSS / Javascript

  • Test, Deploy, Monitor, and support solutions through the duration of the internship

  • Research practical uses within our institution for AI systems such as ChatGPT and Google Bard and prepare a report for UnivIT stakeholders

  • Work closely with manager, establishing a goal plan with objectives to be completed by conclusion of assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Matriculated in an undergraduate studies program in IT, business administration, healthcare administration, engineering, or related field preferred.

  • 1+ year of work experience is preferred.

  • or an equivalent combination of education training and/or experience required.

  • No professional work experience is required.

  • Technical aptitude with ability to quickly learn new technology preferred.

  • Ability to express complex concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing preferred.

  • Solution oriented with a positive attitude preferred.

  • Strong ability to prioritize. Strong attention to detail preferred.

  • Reliable and able to establish trust with your team preferred.

  • No professional certification required. Must be able to travel to designated sites as assigned.

  • Candidates located near Rochester NY and surrounding areas are preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 16.50 - $ 21.45 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
