Order#: NY1396299 Youth Career Services Navigator Salary $37,500 - $40,000 Role Description RochesterWorks, Inc. is seeking four (4) outgoing individuals to recruit, serve, and place in unsubsidized employment; eligible youth, ages 18-24, residing primarily in the nine (9) Rochester ZIP codes most heavily impacted by gun violence. Assist youth in achieving academic and employment success through effective and comprehensive activities that improve educational and skill competencies and strengthen connections to employers. Remove barriers to active participation in education, training, and employment; Ensure on-going mentoring opportunities with adults; Provide opportunities for training, career exploration, work experience, and employment; Provide incentives for recognition and achievement. Major Responsibilities - WIOA FTE Navigator duties include but are not limited to: Outreach, recruitment, assessment, eligibility determination, registration, and enrollment of targeted out of school youth from the following zip codes: 14605, 14606, 14608, 14609, 14611, 14613, 14615, 14619, 14621 Recruit a caseload of young adults to connect to employment opportunities based on that individual's interest Develop an Individual Service Strategy (ISS), career pathway, and career plan specific to each youth that is based on an objective assessment and identifies an employment goal, an educational goal, and any appropriate services supporting the achievement of identified goals Keep youth engaged by regularly spending time and building a rapport Exposing youth to and making available the 14 WIOA Youth Elements as appropriate, including advocacy for supportive services as needed (i.e., clothing, transportation, personal hygiene products) Develop a work experience/internship opportunity at a not-for-profit or for-profit worksite(s) related to each youth's career pathway. Work experiences may be paid or unpaid. The number of hours per week and the length of the work experience/internship based upon funding availability. Assist youth to identify appropriate post secondary educational, training and employment opportunities that will help to reach their goals Intercommunicate and follow up with youth and/or service provider to determine effectiveness of results Maintain accurate progress notes and supporting documentation for each youth Navigators are required to utilize the web-based New York State database system to register, enroll, and document provided elements/services Maintains accurate and thorough customer file (hard copy) records Assists with special projects and other duties as required Qualifications Associates degree with two years' experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience Experience in working with diverse populations in a fast-paced environment Excellent verbal and written communications skills Proficiency in bi-lingual skills a plus Ability and flexibility to work at various hours Develop effective working relationships and work well as part of a team to achieve organizational goals Excellent time management skills and ability to complete paperwork and data maintenance on a timely basis Proficient in MS Office Knowledgeable regarding local occupational, educational, and labor market information Physical Demands This is a seasonal position (dependent on funding and performance), professional environment, normal business hours requiring some flexibility for evening and weekends, and the ability to travel to employment locations/ recruitment events throughout the City of Rochester and Monroe County.
