Raytheon Technologies Quality Engineer, 2nd or 3rd shift (onsite) in Rome, New York

The Off Shift Quality Engineer is a seasoned Quality Engineering professional who works as an individual contributor to achieve objectives with a significant impact on their area of responsibility. The Quality Engineer may manage Quality Engineering processes and projects. They use their experience and knowledge to influence the development, modification, application and maintenance, or quality evaluation, control systems and protocols.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide analysis and explanations of testing and inspection plans, methods and technologies to assure reliability and conformance of products and processes.

  • Analyze and make recommendations for corrective actions for nonconformities and/or design problems for internally produced products & processes.

  • Utilize UPPAP core elements (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, etc.) to identify and make recommendations for managing risk in product development.

  • Manage processes to ensure all requirements are met for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance.

  • Review process control documentation to ensure it is in compliance with requirements, objectives, and contracts.

  • Develop, modify, apply and maintain quality evaluation, control systems and protocols for materials being processed into partially finished or finished products.

  • Work with product design and specification, devise testing plans, methods and equipment to assure reliability of product

  • Collaborate internally to ensure quality standards are in effect.

  • Ensure projects and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives and contracts.

  • Identify and manage risk in product development primarily utilizing and driving UPPAP core elements (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, etc.).

  • Develop proactive quality initiative strategies and drive their implementation.

  • Perform Escape management procedures, root cause analysis and recommend corrective action for design problems for internally produced products & processes.

  • Ensure all requirements are met for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance.

  • Design and implement product engineering changes to satisfy quality issues raised by customers.

  • Responsible for Program and Product Quality Engineering.

  • Development of new inspection technologies or methodologies to assure product conformance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Experience with a Quality Management System

  • Experience with a Continuous Improvement System i.e. Lean, ACE, Six Sigma, etc.

  • Experience in a Manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or 9 years of experience

  • Experience in a Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Design Engineering role in operations and/or inspection (i.e. creating inspection methods, creating manufacturing plans, design for manufacturability activities)

  • Experience or knowledge of APQP and PPAP

  • Direct experience in generating and executing quality plans, control plans and PFMEA

  • Experience in Aerospace industry or ISO9001/AS9100 certified manufacturing facility

  • Experience in structured RCCA approaches (DIVE, 8D, fault tree, redX, etc.)

  • Knowledge and/or experience with FAA regulations
