General Description
Niagara County Community College has an incredible opportunity for enthusiastic and devoted Nursing professionals who want to educate and inspire students enrolled in the College’s Associate Degree Nursing (RN) program who are entering the Nursing profession. NCCC has opportunities for full-time, 10-month (tenure track) Nursing Assistant Professors to join our Nursing, Physical & Allied Health division. Our programs provide clinical experiences in hospitals, nursing homes, and community-based facilities. Our labs provide hands-on experience with the newest technology and medical equipment in the field. We also have a simulation lab that will emulate real-life scenarios in our nursing programs.
Teaching responsibilities may include content areas of Nursing Fundamentals, Adult Medical Surgical, Maternity, instructed in a classroom, clinical, and lab settings as needed. This position will also be responsible for student advisement, and participation in divisional and college activities. Assignments are typically during the day but may also be during evening or weekend hours.
The successful candidate will only be required to work 162 days per academic year (August – May) and will be provided with a winter break from mid-December to early January, a Spring Break for one week in mid-March and will work until the Spring Semester ends in mid-May (not required to work in June, July and most of August).
The base salary of $62,186 per year equates to $54.84 per hour given the 162-day professional obligation of the position. In addition to the base salary, there are many ways to increase the salary further by teaching overload, teaching summer courses, doing special assignments etc. The average salary in this position with overloads and other assignments is $67,300. There is a tenure track pathway for promotion to higher level salaries of Associate Professor and Professor.

Typical Work Activities
Teach and advise students in the Nursing program
Recruit and retain students in the Nursing program
Actively participate as a member of a committee, representing the Nursing and Allied Health division
Attend and participate in division meetings
Performs other duties as assigned
Essential Functions
Ability to interact, communicate and work with and teach a diverse student population. Ability to advise students for classes, transfer options and career advice in the field. Ability to be an active member in the division and serve on committees representing the division. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and enrolled in a Master’s of Science in Nursing program.
Proof that one has completed all requirements for a Master’s of Science with a major in Nursing within 18 months of starting the position
Current Registered Nurse license;
Nursing clinical experience or teaching experience in nursing within the last 5 years.
Desirable Qualifications
Master’s degree or Doctorate in Nursing
Classroom, lab, or clinical teaching experience in a nursing program in a community college
Teaching or clinical experience in a technology-enhanced classroom
Experience using a course management system such as Blackboard
License(s)/Certifications
Registered Nurse License
