Description

This individual, supervised by the Camp Director, manages the operations of an age Unit of Camp Chaverim; and oversees the health, safety, and well-being of the campers and counselors of the unit.

Pre-Camp Responsibilities

Assist in interviewing and hiring of staff

Assist in the planning of special events

Assist in curriculum development as it pertains to TAG time

Assist in camp scheduling

Attend and lead parts of Camp Orientations before camp starts

Camp Responsibilities

Supervision of the counselors and the camp groups within the unit

Plans, implements, and coordinates unit programming and activities

Responsible for TAG programming within your unit

Organizing and structuring camp Chugim, if applicable

Required to attend Unit specific events (late nights, overnights, field trips, etc.)

Responsible for counselors’ daily schedules.

Responsible for camper management

Respond to parent questions and concerns

Responsible for coordinating submission and issuing of camp group newsletters in a timely manner

Conducts unit staff meetings

Serves as a member of the camp supervisory management team; and attends supervisory and full camp staff meeting

Leads or assists in camp special events

May be responsible for the leading of the camp extended morning or afternoon programs

Perform all other duties as assigned or delegated by the Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director or JCC Campus Directors.

Qualifications

Qualifications

18 years old or older before the start of camp

Experience working with children

Ability to supervise staff campers

Ability to meet the public and deal with parents

Comfortable speaking in front of large groups of people

Ability to plan initiate, organize, and carry out daily and special programs

Minimum of 2 years of camp experience

A positive, upbeat spirit can do attitude and a great sense of fun!

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time

Ability to bend at the waist, squat and pick items off the floor

Ability to walk, hike, and climb long distances

Must have great eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and participate in camp activiteis

Ability to lift up to 50 bls
