Job Description Summary
GE Consulting Services, part of GE Vernova’s Strategy Organization, has offices in multiple countries and offers our global clients (both external & internal to GE) a wide range of solutions across the entire spectrum of power generation, delivery, and utilization. Our Power Systems Strategy team utilizes their deep knowledge of power market operations; power grid planning, design, and operation; asset valuation and forecasting; and life-cycle management, to offer customized solutions to our global clients. Our Power Economics team offers analyses focused on the understanding and study of the financial and physical operation of electric power systems, including grid planning, system optimization, asset valuation and techno-economic modeling, competitive power market structure and operations, energy policy implications, and long-term regional and portfolio strategic planning. Over 700 entities worldwide use our suite of software tools to assess the economics, performance, and reliability of interconnected power systems. We also offer a full range of education courses through our Power Systems Engineering Course (PSEC) offering. As a member of the GE Consulting Services - Power Systems Strategy team, a successful candidate will support consulting and advisory services across the electric power industry and support other GE business initiatives related to power systems equipment and services.

Roles & Responsibilities
Conduct economic and/or engineering system studies related to production cost modeling, reliability analysis, power market forecasting, and long-term planning.
Support GE Vernova businesses and customers in the areas such as wind and solar assetanalysis and integration, smart grid optimization, distributed energy resource (hybrid systems and microgrids) planning and modeling, asset optimization and utilization, new product initiatives, and system and portfoliodecarbonization planning engagements, amongst others.
Develop, maintain, and apply detailed market simulation models for the energy industry for customer planning and investment objectives, evaluating impacts of structural changes in electricity markets, and identifying growth opportunities for GE Vernova.
Perform research affectingglobal power markets for policy changes and other newsworthy issues that may affect generation and transmission asset values and advise clients on expected impacts of those changes.
Effectively communicate results to both internal and external customers by preparing written detailed and summary reports and making presentations describing analyses performed, solutions developed, and customer value propositions.
Collaborate cross-functionally between the Consulting Services and other GE Vernova businesses.
Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service, and innovation are critical.
Desire to learn, work in a fast-paced environment, and contribute to meaningful project is essential.
Experience with economic or financial modeling; optimization models; Python, VBA, and other coding languages a plus.
Location: Schenectady, NY
Must have one to two semesters left prior to graduation and be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program
Following majors desired: Economics, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science
Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding).
Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process
Must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must be able to develop and maintain good customer relationships
Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
Must be willing to work in geographical area specified by the business
Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship
Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
