When you join PPGNY as a Human Resources Generalist you will play a pivotal role in the core functions of our HR department. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of HR activities, including employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, performance management, and compliance with labor laws and company policies. You'll serve as a trusted resource for employees and management alike, offering guidance on HR-related matters, resolving employee issues, and ensuring a positive and inclusive work environment. Your ability to handle confidential information, communicate effectively, and adapt to evolving HR trends and regulations will be essential in supporting our organization's talent management and HR initiatives. This position is located within Central New York State and involves travel within the region and New York State about 25% of the time.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Employee Relations and Conflict Resolution (15%) Address employee concerns, conflicts, and grievances, fostering a positive work environment.

  • Onboarding and Offboarding (15%) Processing of all employee lifecycle transitions

  • Policy Development and Compliance (15%) Assist in developing HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.

  • Employee Records Management (15%) Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including personnel files and HR databases.

  • Benefits Administration (10%) Administer employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.

  • Performance Management (10%) Support performance appraisal processes, provide feedback, and assist in development and improvement plans.

  • Training and Development (10%) Identify training needs, coordinate training programs, and promote employee development.

  • Payroll and Compensation (5%) Collaborate with payroll to ensure accurate compensation and resolve payroll related queries.

  • HR Reporting and Analytics (5%) Generate HR reports, analyze data, and provide insights to inform HR decisions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A demonstrated commitment to PPGNY’s mission related to bodily autonomy, health equity, and gender and racial justice

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources,(liberal arts) or a related field

  • A demonstrated commitment to learning about and enhancing practices related to racial equity and its impact on healthcare systems

  • 3+ years of experience in an HR generalist role that includes responsibility for employee relations

  • Proficiency in (Microsoft office 365) and HRIS systems. ADP, Paycom, and Workday experience a plus

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations

  • Strong relationship building and communication skills, including an ability to work and build trust across cultural differences related to race, class, age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin and ability; and to reflect on one’s personal identity with humility

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid PHR or SHRM-CP certification

  • Project management experience

  • Experience with succession planning

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • This job operates in a professional office environment/clinical office setting. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions in a health center environment.

  • Requires sitting for long periods of time. Periodic standing, walking, bending. Requires lifting of up to 15 pounds. Visual acuity sufficient to perform frequent work on a computer screen and review printed reports and other materials. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, rev 9/2020 photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Requires the ability to hear and to communicate orally with others.
