We are looking for a seasoned Analytics Engineer to join our team within GE Renewable Energy’s Digital Services business. Using your mastery of data tools and techniques you will create analytics that monitor industrial scale machines that impact our modern lives. You will assist in developing diagnostic and prognostic algorithms to detect anomalous behavior or prevent failure on machines that power our world.

Roles and Responsibilities
In this role you will:
Share in our mission to unleash limitless clean energy to all corners of our world
Build lasting solutions that will monitor and surface critical performance metrics for Renewable Energy assets
Wrangle large datasets from Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) type machines e.g. Wind Turbines, Solar Arrays, Hydro Plants
Partner with data scientists, data engineers, reliability engineers, field engineers to design, build, test and deploy data driven solutions to detect (diagnostic) or prevent (prognostic) machine failures
Employ statistical and anomaly detection methods to optimize the performance and reliability of industrial machines
Partner with the team to build and own the algorithms and analytics environment, driving data standardization and accessibility
Use Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) methods to diagnose and troubleshoot system failures
Work with highly motivated individuals like yourself to solve complex and interesting data problems that are impactful to our customers and GE Renewable Energy
Help drive optimization, testing and tool development to improve the quality in data products
Required Characteristics
Bachelor's Degree in science, economics, statistics, computer science, mathematics or similar quantitative field of study
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a similar data engineering, data analytics or business intelligence role

Motivated to mentor junior engineers in the art and science of your craft and field
Proficient in modern data science tools like Python, Pandas, Scala, Spark, Hadoop, Airflow, Matplotlib, Plotly, Jupyter Notebook or other similar technologies
Can bend SQL (or SQL like) to your will to wrestle data away from and negotiate inputs to any database
Familiar with file format and storage technologies such as Parquet, JSON, CSV, S3, Azure Blobstore, HDFS etc.
Experience with software development techniques, tools and processes like source control (Git), Functional or Object Oriented Programing, Test Driven Development, Agile Analytics Development, Functional Decomposition of systems, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CICD)
Experience with cloud provider tools for data science (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
Can creatively use Business Intelligence or data visualization tools (Tableau, Matplotlib, Plotly etc.) to communicate data driven insights
Ability to consume and create Web APIs (e.g. ReST, gRPC) for building data models or making them available for others to use
