Hillrom’s manufacturing network is broadly divided between large capital products and small capital products sectors. The small cap manufacturing network consist of 5 facilities, 3 in the US and 1 in Tijuana, MX and 1 in China producing 13K SKUs for our Front Line Care (FLC) business unit. Furthermore, these are light manufacturing and final assembly facilities for both high and low (made to order) volumes.
The Sector Commodity Manager position supports five locations for Front Line Care and the Small Capital sector. The Small Capital Mechanical Sector includes Fabrics, Textiles, Tubing, Metals, Castings, Machining, Plastics, Hardware, and Optics. The Sector Commodity Manager is expected to understand cost drivers and helps support cost savings opportunities via Value Improvement Projects (VIPs). S/he will act as a project manager, leading cross-functional resources in key strategic sourcing and operation excellence initiatives with project accountability for the strategic sourcing function including VIPs. The Manager will develop and manage annual, multi-year commodity strategies and objectives along with optimizing total material cost and return on procured assets; as well as develop a global sourcing strategy consistent with corporate strategic objectives to secure supplier selections based on organizational requirements. S/he will act as a collaborative partner, ensuring suppliers are rated consistently and fairly, timely feedback is delivered to suppliers regarding performance, and collaboration and communication are effective between suppliers and the broader business; interact with New Product Development teams to ensure early design involvement into new products. As a consultative resource to all four Front-Line Care global locations on New Product Development, the Manager will support with financial budgeting, technology research, supplier liaison and full support, start to finish, for prototype/production integrations ensuring a supply base that compliments and exceeds needed technologies and directives and utilize sourcing experience to provide leadership to internal stakeholders, external suppliers and customers by establishing team involvement and proactive feedback.
The Sector Commodity Manager is an individual contributor (no direct reports) who reports into the Commodity Manager Lead. S/he works collaboratively across the operations organization including site purchasing, sourcing, manufacturing, engineering, etc.
The role is located at our manufacturing facility in Skaneateles Falls, a bedroom community outside of Syracuse, New York. Consideration will also be made for candidates located in Tijuana, MX.

BASIC FUNCTION AND PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Working closely with the broader Sourcing Organization, including both the Global Business Unit and Corporate Commodity teams, develop and administer, on a global multi-plant wide basis, dependable and progressive sources of supply.
-Manage optimal procurement arrangements/methods for consolidated commodity requirements driving year over year cost reductions and utilizing life cycle and total cost analysis where applicable.
-Function as the primary contact for key suppliers within the assigned commodities and develop working relationships that drive a reliable supply chain at competitive prices.
-Actively support a broad range of Mechanical commodities, including but not limited to Fabrics, Textiles, Tubing, Metals, Castings, Machining, Plastics, Hardware, and Optics. This position may also support Electro-Mechanical commodities as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
-Bachelor’s degree is required; Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related discipline is ideal.
-ISM, CPM, APICS or CPIM certification is desired.
-Commodity Sourcing and cost reduction project experience along with understanding of cost drivers in a manufacturing environment is required. Commodities fabrics or textiles are preferred, could include tubing, metals, castings, machining, plastics, hardware, and optics.
-Proven success with cultivating long term vendor relationships and negotiating contracts that deliver robust supply chain solutions and tangible cost savings on an annual basis.
-Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
-Multi-plant manufacturing setting and experience with Mexican, European, and Asian supply chain partners. is preferred.
-SAP ERP system ideal.
-Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
-Ability to lead a cross functional commodity team by clearly defining duties, performance objectives and deliverables.
