1 fulltime seasonal H-2A job available 03/01/2021 - 11/28/2021 All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform work described in this job description and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in this work order. This work order is for qualified people to perform a combination of tasks involved in the production and harvesting of apple, peach, plum and cherry trees. Duties include; operating tractors, tractor drawn machinery, and set propelled machinery to plow, harrow, mow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray, prune, train and harvest crops. Constructing trellises, repair fences and/or farm buildings or participate in irrigation activities. Workers conduct manual labor using hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning tools, shear and knives. Manually plant and prune apple trees. Pruning actives require workers to use ladders and manual hand-held sheer demanding repetitive clasping of the hand. Workers must be able to drive tractor-powered equipment for orchard pruning activities, including mechanical hedgers and pruning platforms. Workers must be able to handle ladders up to 24' and able to lift 70 lbs minimum. Workers are required to work in the tree and rootstock nursery where young trees are propagated for the orchard. Nursery duties include; weeding between plants by hand, de-leafing young trees by hand and applying granular fertilizer by hand. Mowing and light tractor work will be required in the nursery. Workers must be willing to mix spray chemical tanks and apply pesticides to orchard using tractor driven spray equipment. As well as operate harvest machinery; including tractors, chain drive trailers and bin trailers. Ability to recognize and communicate issues with the orchard manager or supervisor is required. Workers must be willing to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures. Employer will furnish to workers all tools required in the performance of the duties assigned without cost. Workers may not use cell phones for personal use during work times. Phone use must be limited to breaks and lunch. Workers referred as a result of this order must have a minimum of three months verifiable experience in performing the tasks in this order. The employer will allow three days of work for worker to reach production standards.
