Description

St. Bonaventure University is seeking 2 temporary Arts Education Assistants for the Summer of 2021.

Conduct arts/educational activities for tour groups as well as carry out and Community Outreach ArtMobile Programs and QCA Summer Camps.

  • Prepare materials and run tours/camps/outreach activities

  • Plan and run activities for QCA Summer Camp offerings and Community Outreach Events.

  • Assemble materials, test activities for success and time planning purposes for community and camp programs.

  • Load ArtMobile and drive to locations, set up materials before children arrive; prepare summer camp activities in house

  • Clean up all materials after program, prepare supplies for next day’s activities.

  • General cleanup up, upkeep and conditioning of Arts Education materials and space

  • Other duties as assigned

Must be conformable working directly with children.

Should possess good organizational skills and able to communicate effectively.

May help with general summer exhibition work – painting and patching walls, preparing mattes or frames, hanging artwork/signage (under supervision)

Typical Qualifications

High school diploma or its equivalency required, some college-level education in visual art, art education, museum studies and/or art history preferred.

The ability to successfully complete a criminal background check, and be approved to drive a University vehicle.

Physical strength/endurance to enable them to perform/participate in the following activities:

Physically able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.

While performing required job tasks, physically able to bend, crouch and reach continuously.

While performing required job tasks, physically able to remain seated, frequently to continuously.

While performing required job tasks, physically able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.

Possesses dexterity abilities required to operate a vehicle to perform related job responsibilities.

Additional Benefits available to Full time Staff only:

  • Sick days: Eight days per year accrued quarterly. First quarterly distribution on day of hire (may be prorated).

  • Sick bank: With five years’ service and minimum 160 hours banked, employee receives 1,048 hour paid sick leave bank with accrual rate revised to four days per year.

  • Long Term Disability: 60% replacement of wages after six-months’ sustained illness.

  • Vacation days: 15 days per year to start. 20 days after five years of service. Available only to 12-month employees. First distribution on date of hire (may be prorated).

  • Personal days: 3 personal days per year, granted in full upon hire (may be prorated based on start date).

  • Holidays and PTO days: 19-21 days per year. Ten Designated Holidays and minimum of nine Paid Time Off days scheduled around holidays by administration. Essential personnel working on holidays or PTO days receive additional compensation or additional leave per policy.

  • Bereavement leave: Up to 3 days available. Discuss with supervisor. Must be approved by division Executive. Additional time may be granted as needed with Executive approval.

  • Health, dental, accident, vision: Available first of the month following a minimum 30-days full-time employment.

  • Retirement contribution: 10% University contribution after two year vesting.

  • Participation in supplemental retirement: Begin your own pre-tax, payroll deduction retirement account.

  • Tuition Remission and Exchange: Employee, spouse and dependents have full undergraduate tuition waiver at SBU. Dependents also have tuition waivers available at 500+ partner universities. Remission for Graduate programs (SBU only) is 80% of the tuition cost for the employee and 50% for the employee’s spouse. Tuition remission for SBU online graduate programs is only available to the employee.

  • Term life insurance: 1.5 times employee annual wage up to $300k. Premium paid at 100% by the University.

  • Pre-tax Flex spending: Up to $2,750 per year may be set aside by the employee pre-tax to pay for unreimbursed medical, childcare, or eldercare expenses.

  • Golf course membership: Annual membership to University golf course for a $100 fee.

  • Two free season basketball tickets: Taxable benefit available annually to the employee. Liberal choice of seats.
