Description
Supervise, lead and manage Campus Safety and Security Officers during assigned shifts. Assign tasks, monitor progress and ensure completion. Train, motivate and mentor department employees to thoroughly understand all of their duties and responsibilities. Must be willing to work routine patrol and other duties as assigned. Identifies and reports unsafe conditions on campus, handles emergencies and other inquiries for the department. Reviews daily events list, making sure all signage and unlocks are completed as needed. Needs to be a self-starter, have a strong work ethic, and possess excellent writing, analytical, and investigative skills.

Examples of Duties
Review all reports and investigations completed during a shift.20
Ability to supervise and evaluate work performance of subordinate personnel.20
Responsible for contacting the Associate Dean for Campus Safety (or Administrator on Call), Residence Hall Director on duty, Facility Management, and Facilities personnel, as required, during emergencies or as security issues arise.10
Complete all required training requirements and serve as first-responder/initial intake for reported Gender-Based Discrimination Policy violations reported during shift. Responsible for contacting the Title IX Coordinator, as required/necessary.10
Must possess strong interpersonal skills, especially the ability to effectively interact, communicate, and diffuse potential combative situations with persons from all walks of life.10
Directing operations at the scenes of incidents.10
Patrol exterior parking areas for compliance.10

Supplemental Functions:
Assist campus Safety and Security administrators as needed.
Supervisory Responsibility
Full Supervision of other non-supervisory employees. May share some responsibility for employment decisions with higher level management.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Ability to successfully complete NIMS (National Incident Management System Training), NYS
Office of Fire Prevention and Control, Crowd Management Training.
Years of Experience – (required or preferred number of years and in which specific areas)
Preferred 10 years of security experience in a full-time role, or other relative work experience in either law enforcement or professional fire service.
Certification and/or Licensure
Valid driver’s license, ability to pass a level four security clearance, ability to acquire NYS Security Guard License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Applicants must have strong leadership, and good interpersonal communication skills. The successful candidate must possess a high degree of reliability. Successful candidate will also possess the ability to relate well to students, faculty and a diverse community.
Working Conditions / Physical requirements
May encounter exposure to inclement weather for substantial duration, exposure to hazards associated with campus grounds. May be subject to physical exertion consistent with security guard duties.
