Duties Description DUTIES:Under the general supervision of higher level personnel, the PRA3 will perform basic maintenance, cleaning and repair activities, both inside and outside, at the facility. Duties include:• Mowing, trimming, weeding and landscaping• Snow blowing and clearing/de-icing walkways • Cleaning and re-stocking all public restrooms; disposing of garbage and recycling• Transporting heavy bottles and boxes up three floors on stairs• Dusting and vacuuming tour carpets and other public areas of historic house; mopping and dry-mopping historic floors• Maintaining apparatus in the museum including de-humidifiers, air conditioners to maintain optimal temperature and humidity controls; assist staff with data monitoring of environmental conditions; assist with museum’s integrated pest management program• Basic repairs to doors, windows and non-collections furniture• Cleaning windows, didactic signage and outdoor historic finishes (includes power-washing)• Event set-up, clean-up and implementation (for indoor and outdoor events; includes cleaning and pest removal in park buildings)• Conducting regular, periodic inspections and maintenance on equipment (including emergency generators, heating fuel delvery hatches, mowers, snow blowers, site vehicle, etc.); maintaining maintenance and safety records on mechanical and motorized equipment; responsible for safe use and retention of the site’s equipment inventory• Assist staff with monitoring and maintaining propane tank hatches and boilers • Winterizing and de-winterizing pipes and spigots; setting up watering hoses for plants in spring; removing vegetation from window wells and balconies (some confined space safety training provided)• Holiday season: removing 30+ boxes from storage and staging throughout house; moving and assembling large artificial Christmas trees; deploying string lighting and decorations in park and building exterior; also de-decorating and re-storing throughout January• Participating in full repertoire of NYS and agency-mandated trainings• Occasional security duties for museum• Learning basics of NYS procurement guidelines and assisting with purchasing and vendor location for projects as needed• Other duties as assigned

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:• Due to the museum setting, must be able to demonstrate willingness to adhere to museum security and specific directives on working in historic rooms and around collections• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds• The candidate will be required to operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and motorized equipment; prior experience with such devices a plus• Must be dependable and demonstrate on-time attendance• Must be able to operate a computer, including MS programs: Word, Outlook• Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license as a term and condition of employment.• Excellent customer service and courtesy required• Ability to work well with others; and be flexible and responsive to directions and assignments
