Brief Description of Duties:

The EEO Workforce Data Analyst reports to the Director of EEO, ADA, and Training. The incumbent’s responsibilities include collecting, analyzing, and reporting on critical workforce data to ensure Stony Brook University's compliance with federal and state regulations and to advance its commitment to equity and access. This position provides data-driven insights to senior leadership on workforce utilization, recruitment effectiveness, and potential areas for improvement. Demonstrated experience working with large datasets and complex data systems and strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations, are required for this role. The Analyst's work directly supports strategic workforce planning and helps mitigate institutional risk while promoting operational efficiency. Ultimately, this role contributes to building a diverse, high-performing, and equitable workforce across the University community.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, are essential for this role. The incumbent is expected to prepare clear, concise, and accurate data reports and presentations for diverse audiences, including senior leadership.

  • Workforce and Utilization Analysis & Reporting:This encompasses the core monthly data reporting cycle for regulatory compliance (VEVRAA, Section 503) and internal stakeholders. It includes data collection, analysis, report preparation, ensuring data integrity, and meeting strict deadlines. This is a consistently time-consuming and recurring duty.

  • Recruitment and Staffing Analysis & Support: This duty involves ongoing analysis of recruitment data and processes, conducting search reviews, identifying areas for improvement in hiring efficiency and equity, and providing data-driven recommendations to HR and hiring departments. While potentially cyclical with hiring seasons, recruitment analysis is a continuous function for strategic workforce planning and requires significant analytical effort. Furthermore, the incumbent will conduct mid-search and post-search reviews and function as an expert in search and selection practices.

  • Data Integrity, Documentation, and Process Improvement: This percentage reflects the ongoing effort required to maintain data quality, accuracy, and consistency. It includes developing and implementing data quality assurance processes, documenting data sources and methodologies, staying updated on regulatory changes affecting data collection and reporting, and continuously seeking to improve data management and reporting processes. This is an underpinning duty that supports both reporting and recruitment analysis and is crucial for the role's long-term effectiveness.

  • Collaboration and Communication: This includes time spent collaborating with colleagues within the OEA, HR partners, and IT departments for data access, and communicating with senior administration and campus stakeholders regarding data findings and reports. It also includes time spent in meetings, presentations, and responding to data requests or inquiries. While communication is essential, the primary function is analytical, hence a slightly lower percentage compared to the data-focused duties.

  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:

This is a Management Confidential position. This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
