The Program in Public Health at Stony Brook Universityis seeking a qualified instructor for a non-tenure track part-time faculty position who will teach and support the integrative experience for MHA students and the practicum for MPH HPM students and act as the Concentration Head for the HPM concentration within the MPH Program. The MHA program and MPH HPM concentration is delivered in an entirely online modality.
Develop appropriate field placements and preceptor relationships for health management education of MHA and MPH HPM students.
Meet with all MHA and MPH HPM student on an ongoing basis to strategize about appropriate field-based learning experiences as they craft their Integrative Experiences or Practicums.
Career advisement for MHA and MPH HPM students.
Hosting office hours to guide and mentorship MHA and MPH HPM students through mentorship and administrative fellowship opportunities.
Facilitate development and evaluation of comprehensive field-based experiences aligned with competency-based assessment throughout the course of the programs.
Serve as third dedicated MHA faculty member for purposes of demonstrating more robust faculty discussions related to health management industry perspective and developing greater depth in our Integrative Experiences and Practicums.
Collaborating with MPH and MHA Program Directors to support the maintenance of CEPH and CAHME Accreditation, respectively (e.g., supports compilation of data from evaluation tools involving student competency attainment, evaluation of courses, teaching effectiveness, and post concentration employment).
Continuously establish and maintain contacts with various health care organizations to facilitate practicum and integrative experience placements for students. This will include recruiting strategic partnerships and preceptors for our student population.
The ideal candidate should be a seasoned health care executive familiar with acute care, post-acute care and ambulatory care settings. In addition, candidate should have and maintain health care industry contacts, as well as experience in mentoring and coaching. Must be able to assist in securing practicums, internships, and fellowships. Candidate will have a willingness to adhere to accreditation requirements for competency-based curricula and assessments. Continuing professional development participation is expected from the instructor: there will be opportunities to attend conferences, workshops, on-line tutorials, and to join professional development opportunities and/or membership in professional organizations.
Required Qualifications:Master's prepared in a health-related field. Experience teaching in an online MHA program. Experience supervising integrative experiences in an MHA program. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Experience working with diverse student populations.
Preferred Qualifications: Minimum 15 years experience in health care executive leadership position. Commitment to contributing to the diversity, equity, inclusivity, and excellence of the Stony Brook community through teaching and service.

0.75 FTE Non-Tenure Track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. To qualify for a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
