Associate's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience with research activities.Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in running human subjects research. Experience with SPSS, R, MATLAB, and/or other research software or coding.Brief Description of Duties:
The Cognitive Health and Neurodegeneration Lab (CHEN Lab, PI: Xi Chen) in the Department of Psychology at Stony Brook University is seeking a Lab Coordinator to assist with coordinating and conducting studies. Research in the lab uses multimodal neuroimaging, comprehensive cognitive testing, and quantitative techniques and focuses on understanding cognitive and brain aging processes.

The Lab Coordinator will work closely with the PI and be involved in all aspects of the research process. It is ideal for someone considering graduate school in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, or related areas. This position will be in person (Stony Brook, NY, USA), with a flexible start date in the summer 2024. The appointment requires a two-year commitment, with an initial contract for one year with a possibility of renewal for a second year or more depending on performance and funding.

The successful incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Duties:

  • The Lab Coordinator assists with overseeing daily operations of projects, conducts research projects, and collaborates on routine projects and procedures to ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision.
  • Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols; collects behavioral data, blood sample, and neuroimaging scans (MRI, PET); assists with overseeing and monitoring collected data.
  • Recruits and screens participant, coordinates the day-to-day running of the research projects, and produces progressive reports.
  • Lab maintenance activities including ordering of supplies, coordinating purchases with administrative staff, organizing lab meetings and events, maintaining the lab website, maintaining records, files, and logs of work performed in lab notebooks and/or computer database, etc.
  • Other research-related tasks including preparing IRBs, participating in the development of research methodology and materials, literature review, gathering data from archival databases, etc.
  • Interviews, trains, and mentors a team of research assistants with the PI
  • Works on collaborative projects with members in the lab; reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentation and/or reporting to internal and external audiences; potentially works on an independent project with the PI.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission

Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,087 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.For this position, we are unable to sponsor candidates for work visas.Resume/CV and cover letter should be included with the online application.
