Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
High school diploma.Currently pursuing an undergraduate degreein computer science, mathematics, or closely related field
Research experience in three or more of the following areas: data structures, external-memory algorithms, randomized algorithms, online algorithms, and write-optimization. Experience in technical writing, including writing research papers.
Brief Description of Duties:
The summer project aide will assist the PI in conducting research in algorithms and data structures. The internship will have a primary focus on randomized algorithms (for contention resolution, randomized data structures, hashing, and approximate set membership). The internship will have a secondary focus on writing optimized data structures. There may be an implementation component to the project. The summer intern will write and publish papers and interact with graduate students, postdocs, and other professors. Successful candidates will have a strong academic record and possess excellent writing/communication skills.
Assist in conducting research within the above scope.
Coordinate research efforts in collaboration with the PI, interacting closely with postdocs and graduate and undergraduate students.
Participate in manuscript writing for publication in scientific conferences/journals, presentations, and federal/state grant applications.
Other duties as assigned.
Special Notes: This is ahourly temporary appointment. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation.
