Job Summary:

The Department of Public Health & Preventive Medicine at Upstate Medical University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Public Health, to begin in the Summer of 2022. The successful candidate will: Teach 2-3 courses in our CEPH-accredited Master of Public Health Program, based upon specific expertise and interests. Examples of classes include courses in biostatistics, epidemiology, research methods and design, geospatial analysis, and data visualization; Participate in teaching activities in Upstate's MD program; Serve as a methodological consultant for our biostatistical research core facility, the Center for Research & Evaluation; Participate in active faculty life within the department, college, and university, including student mentorship and advising, committee service, department and program meetings, and other essential functions of the institution.

The Department of Public Health & Preventive Medicine, is an interdisciplinary group, with faculty who hold degrees in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Community Health (DrPH), Public Health, Health Economics and Health Services Research, Social Sciences, Literature Studies, and Education. The faculty includes individuals with clinical backgrounds, such as medicine, Social Work, and Physical Therapy. Additionally, our professional staff all have graduate training (MPH, MPA, MBA, MPH in progress), and all departmental members participate in the intellectual life of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge base and proficiency in the area of quantitative public health or social sciences, with education and/or experience in public health, and a skill set that includes geospatial analysis and/or data visualization. Applicants with an earned doctorate (PhD, DrPH, ScD or similar) in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a social science with formal training and experience in quantitative methods and public health experience, are welcome to apply.

Preferred Qualifications:

Either a history of successful grant funding, experience working as a methodological consultant, or a clearly stated prospectus for future funding are preferred. Applications received from doctoral candidates (ABD) who expect to complete all requirements for the doctorate by May 2022 will also be considered.

Monday-Friday 9am-5pm; As needed
