VENUE/PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Syracuse Athletics and Legends announced a 10-year partnership that will integrate data and analytics, marketing, ‘Cuse Athletics Fund annual giving, premium seating, and general ticket sales initiatives into a single revenue-driven approach. Legends will support of the ‘Cuse Athletics Fund annual fundraising program. Legends’ unique fundraising platform, an essential service embraced by higher education, identifies effective fan and donor engagement strategies to amplify philanthropic giving and other opportunities. The partnership will also ensure that the Orange build upon their legacy of supporting student-athletes in the classroom and on the playing fields. Legends will also team with Syracuse University’s Falk College of Sport & Human Dynamics to provide education, mentorship, and career opportunities to students.

THE ROLE

We are seeking a team member with a positive, results-oriented approach to collegiate athletic fundraising, who can communicate clearly across all platforms and work diligently to advance and support all Syracuse Athletic Programs and "Cuse Athletic Fund. The Development Officer will be responsible for engaging with existing Syracuse Athletics donors and ticket holders, while also identifying new athletic donor prospects for Syracuse Athletics Annual Fund and Philanthropic Campaigns.

The Development Officer is responsible for engaging and soliciting existing Syracuse Athletics donors and ticket holders, while also identifying new prospective donors. This position will be focused on building relationships through phone calls, emails, prospecting, appointment setting, and executing on-campus and out of office sales meetings and securing philanthropic gifts.

The Development Officer should be results driven, possess an optimistic team-first attitude and a desire to be the best. The Development Officer will work under the guidance of the Director of Ticketing & Annual Fundraising for Legends Global Sales.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • This position will be focused on cultivating, soliciting, and securing, and stewarding donations in support of the Orange Club Athletic Fund and Sport Specific Funds.

  • Identify and manage a portfolio of new prospects and existing donors which includes primarily individuals with specific affiliation and/or giving interest to Syracuse Athletics.

  • Meet or exceed all individual and team new business sales goals associated with the securing donations to the Syracuse sport specific funds and Orange Club Athletic Fund.

  • Prospect and cultivate new sales and donation leads through creative lead generation methods, as well as follow up on leads provided by partner organization

  • Conduct sales conversations via phone presentations, in-office meetings/sales center presentations, and meetings at stadium.

  • Entertain and nurture relationships with current donors and prospects through creative means including but not limited to: networking events, speaking engagements, prospect sampling at games, seat visits at games, open houses at stadium, and outside meetings.

  • Effectively use Salesforce CRM to maintain accurate records of all client and prospect interactions.

  • Using primarily online digital strategies, in addition to phone and in-person outreach, you will cultivate our donors’ relationship with Syracuse, solicit their support of University priorities, and steward their generosity.

  • You will collaborate with teams across Athletic Development to ensure we are implementing a successful approach to identify, qualify and solicit donors to increase the engagement of supporters for the Orange Club Athletic Fund and other Philanthropic Funds, helping to meet unrestricted dollar goals and participation goals.

  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours, weekends, events and game days

  • The candidate will be accountable for certain levels of activity (calls made/appointments set) and goals

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of successful fundraising or sales experience. Prior experience five and six figure deals in the professional or collegiate sports and entertainment industry is preferred

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Effectively communicate with donors and C-level clients

  • Resourceful, innovative and forward thinking

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to learn and master software programs including Salesforce CRM and Ticketing & Fundraising platforms.

  • Ability to handle heavy volume of outbound and inbound phone calls and emails

  • Candidate should possess an optimistic team-first attitude, as well as a competitive desire to be the best
