VENUE/PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Syracuse Athletics and Legends announced a 10-year partnership that will integrate data and analytics, marketing, ‘Cuse Athletics Fund annual giving, premium seating, and general ticket sales initiatives into a single revenue-driven approach. Legends will support the ‘Cuse Athletics Fund annual fundraising program. Legends’ unique fundraising platform, an essential service embraced by higher education, identifies effective fan and donor engagement strategies to amplify philanthropic giving and other opportunities. The partnership will also ensure that the Orange build upon their legacy of supporting student-athletes in the classroom and on the playing fields. Legends will also team with Syracuse University’s Falk College of Sport & Human Dynamics to provide education, mentorship, and career opportunities to students.
THE ROLE
The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating innovative, visually impactful designs, videos, and effects for digital, print, Web and social applications that maintain the continuity and integrity of the Syracuse athletic department. The Graphic Designer reports to the Director, Digital Marketing Revenue Generation. He or she should possess high-end digital skills and a skill-set that includes interactive media software, with graphic design, video editing and three-dimensional animation. Agile at brainstorming and coming up with custom graphics that transmit ideas across digital platforms, they are also deadline driven, organized and detail obsessed. They have top notch interpersonal and communication skills but are also self-starters, able to work independently from a group.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ability to design for both digital and print, including web, social media, emails, invitations, logos, brochures, postcards, flyers, signage, advertisements, sales presentations, infographics and other print collateral and special projects as assigned
Ability to produce motion graphics as stand-alone pieces and to of videos produced by others.
Work with existing creative and deliver supporting designs as well as execute original designs
Facilitates design projects from concept through production and delivery, ensuring internal procedures such as schedules, proofs, approvals, file preparation and job archiving have been properly executed.
Ability to meet deadlines and work with changing priorities
Preserve, protect and uphold brand standards and the use of the Syracuse University marks amongst outside vendors and internal parties
Able to collaborate with the graphics and marketing team, other internal teams and external clients in a professional manner
Ability to take strategic feedback and incorporate into revisions, edits, modifications, resizing and other adjustments to previously completed work
Selecting photos and helping manage archives as needed
Help distribute photos and logos as requested from multiple departments and clients
Maintains knowledge of the latest design trends and techniques, products and resources, develops and advocates best practices in design, maintains active knowledge of developments in field, seeks out learning opportunities and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Minimum 2 years of graphic design experience required – sports experience a plus
Minimum 2 years of motion graphics design
Experience managing multiple projects in fast paced environment
Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite on MAC Platform and others; specifically, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, Aftereffects, Cinema 4D, and like software.
Working knowledge of Facebook ad specs including correct sizing of video and graphic dimensions by ad type and placement
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically Power Point is required
Able to simultaneously manage a high level of detail across multiple projects
Able to demonstrate flexibility and quickly adapt to changes while maintaining high levels of productivity and effectiveness under pressure
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Able to work well within a team environment, offering assistance and support to team members whenever necessary
Bachelor’s degree required, degree in graphics arts preferred
Able to work flexible hours including some nights, weekends and holidays
