Kelberman Center Maintenance/Groundskeeper (Full-Time) in Syracuse, New York
Maintenance/Groundskeeper (Full-Time) The Maintenance/Grounds Keeper is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and overall appearance of the residential property and grounds. This role ensures that the environment is safe, functional, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors. The Maintenance/Grounds Keeper will perform various tasks related to building maintenance, landscaping, and facility management. The Maintenance/ Grounds Keeper person will work to create a pleasant and functional environment for residents and visitors at our 2 Syracuse IRAs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Role responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Perform routine inspections and maintenance on buildings, equipment, and systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) to ensure optimal functioning and safety.
Address and repair requests from staff and residents promptly, including minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
Maintain the exterior of the property, including landscaping, planting, pruning, and debris removal.
Ensure walkways, driveways, and common areas are clean and accessible.
Conduct regular safety inspections of the property, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and identifying potential hazards.
Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment, tools, and machinery safely and efficiently.
Oversee outdoor cleaning activities, including garbage collection, and seasonal preparations.
Work closely with other staff members to support the overall maintenance and safety of the residential facilities. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and service requests. Respond to maintenance emergencies promptly to minimize disruptions and ensure safety. Maintain and beautify residential grounds, including lawns, gardens, walkways, and outdoor amenities. Manage seasonal tasks like leaf removal, snow shoveling, and salting of walkways. Ensure proper storage and handling of maintenance supplies and chemicals. Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and supervisors regarding maintenance issues and progress.
Assist with emergency preparedness and response as needed. Prepare and submit maintenance reports and documentation as required. Assist with scheduling and coordinating maintenance tasks and projects. Adheres to agency policies and procedures; follows and supports agency mission, vision, and values. Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or certification in facilities maintenance, landscaping, or a related field preferred.
Relevant certifications in maintenance or groundskeeping (landscaping certification or HVAC certification) are a plus.
Minimum of 2 3 years of experience in maintenance, groundskeeping, or a related field
