Senior Design Engineer - Solar Job Location(s) US-NY-Syracuse Discipline Electrical Engineering Type Regular Full-Time # of Openings 1 ID 2023-4453 Overview Bergmann, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design is currently looking for a Design Engineer - Solar to join our team! This position is involved in the application of Electrical Engineering technical principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related fields for technical support to project teams within the Electrical Engineering group. Responsibilities The following duties are typical of the position, but are not all encompassing. Each person is expected to help in whatever duties are required to deliver a quality product on schedule. Prepares or modifies PV electrical designs including, specifications, site plans, three-lines, and conductor schedules for projects >1MW-AC. Electrical designs range from preliminary design sets to full construction sets Performs production modeling simulations utilizing Helioscope and PVSyst Prepares interconnection applications for new PV projects Follows standards of practice such as National Electric Code (NEC) Regulations Makes decisions independently regarding Electrical Engineering complexities and methods Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, tests, etc. in order to plan, design and implement a project Adheres to Bergmann Quality Assurance Program Coordinates and collaborates with other design and technical professionals who are part of the project team Required to perform field inspections, research, and measurements Attends client meetings May assist in developing construction cost estimates May serve as onsite project representative May assist in the coordination of pricing, estimating, scoping and marketing strategies for proposed projects Travel for projects is anticipated to be approximately 5% of position and applicant should be willing and able to travel Experience with solar projects is a requirement and experience with storage is desirable Qualifications Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering 3-10 year's experience in the Electrical Engineering field performing solar PV design work Strong technical writing and reporting skills Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) is required Able to work autonomously on solar PV design projects Proficient in AutoCAD Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word,Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel) Physical Requirements Required to be able to walk long distances on hilly terrain during all seasons.
