Job Title: Asphalt Grinder Operator Overview: The Asphalt Grinder Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Grinder.Safety Expectations: All Suit-Kote employees are required to comply with all safety rules and to observe safe work practices and operating procedures at all times. Whenever on Suit-Kote property or job sites, or operating Suit- Kote equipment, employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the safety of the employee, co-workers and others.Responsibilities/Job Duties:•Operate the Grinder and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. •Torching and welding as needed•Understand and follow directions from supervisors as to required work area. •Operate Grinder and conveyor while maintaining proper depth, cross slope, while loading material into dump truck. Operate Grinder around structures in tight places•Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance. •Operate Grinder on public or private roadways, maintaining proper awareness of ones surroundings. •Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth and safe operation of the Grinder.Required Skills/Abilities:•Reliable transportation to and from work •Strong work ethic•Physical Organization and time management •Flexibility in hours - overtime and weekend hours may be necessary•Must have or be willing to obtain an OSHA 10 Hour Safety Certificate•Consent to a DMV license evaluation•Non-CDL Class C License with Hazmat & Tank endorsement•Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required and a background check will be conductedPhysical Requirements:•Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds•Must be capable of using 4 pound hammer for two hours at shoulder height or higher•Observe and comply with necessary PPE requirements•Must be able to work in a noisy area with many odors present•Bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing and squattingOther Preferred Qualities:•Ability to read and understand SDS •Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) •High school diploma or GED •Basic mathPosition is considered full time, but seasonal in nature, with anticipated lay-off in the November thru March time-frame. Site specific locations may have varying seasonal requirements that can extend or contract these timeframes.Additional Duties:This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed.
