Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies
The Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies is a research facility at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The 218,000-square-foot building is located on 15th street between RPI’s Playhouse and Academy Hall, next to the Center for Industrial Innovation.
The Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies seeks a applicant to fill its opening for Laboratory Technologist. The Laboratory Technologist performs routine and specialized molecular testing, including SARS-Co V-2 testing. The Technologist follows established policies and procedures and performs appropriate related tasks (QC, PM, calibrations, etc.). Maintains records of testing including, but not limited to patient results, proficiency testing, quality control, instrument calibrations, and preventive maintenance procedures.
Candidate will have, at least a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, engineering or related discipline.
Candidate are expected to have unpaid experience as a student or intern in experience in lab sections of relevant coursework.
Applicants must meet stated minimum education and experience requirements.
Though not required, candidates with experience in DNA/RNA extraction and PCR are especially desired.

• Ability to work with standard clinical laboratory equipment and molecular biology equipment
• Ability to collect and record data using appropriate field specific systems, equipment and techniques
• Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data
• Ability to communicate statistical data in a clear, concise manner
• Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records
• Ability to understand and follow directions; must be able to work closely with others
• Analytical, reasoning and problem solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to remain calm and composed when dealing with difficult situations or people.
