Job Summary

The leader of the Marketing Communications function will provide day-to-day oversite of OCEC web, brand and editorial teams. The incumbent will partner with institute leaders on their annual marketing and communications plans, and communications roadmaps. The incumbent will be accountable for the execution of university storytelling campaigns and initiatives.

Requirements

To be considered, candidates will have a bachelor's degree in marketing, integrated marketing communications, or a related field; along with five (5) years of professional and progressively responsible experience in a marketing communications setting. Candidates must have creative sensibilities and the ability to navigate and build relationships with leaders in a scholarly environment. Importantly, candidates must have an understanding of brand: how to grow and nurture one; as well as branding: how to manifest it in the market to increase engagement. The successful candidate will have the proven ability to lead and engender cooperation from others in a matrixed environment and drive teams to deliver results.

To be considered at the Director level, the candidate's experience must also include the planning and management of marketing projects, and candidates must be experienced supervisors.

Candidates at the Assistant Vice President level must also have demonstrated experience as a seasoned storyteller and be a well-rounded marketing communications professional with proven ability to develop and experience managing a high-energy, highly productive, accountable team of creative professionals in a matrixed environment. Candidates for the AVP level will have had successful experience in a similar capacity at a top tier agency or a matrixed environment.

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Starting Salary/Rate

Expected hiring range:

  • Director: $125,000 - $135,000

  • Assistant Vice President: $145,000 – $155,000

Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education, and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
