Duties: Operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer's fields and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as-needed basis. Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities. Manually plant, cultivate, & harvest vegetables & fruits including; broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, beans, squash, berries, corn, pumpkins, peaches, plums, apples, apricots & pears. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, & knives.
Duties include tilling soil & applying fertilizers; transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops & applying pesticides. Construct trellises, repair fences & farm buildings, or participate in irrigation activities. Set up & operate irrigation equipment. Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow & fertilize soil or to plant, cultivate spray & harvest crops. Repair & maintain farm vehicles, implements & mechanical equipment. Harvest fruits & vegetables by hand. Apply pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers to crops. Inform farmers or farm manager of crop progress. Identify plants, pests, & weeds to determine the selection & application of pesticides & fertilizers. Clear and maintain irrigation ditches.
Record information about crops, such as pesticides use, yields or costs. Employer will expect worker to pick a minimum of 100 bu boxes of apples with no more than 4% bruising. Employer will provide 4 days of training. Employer may conduct random drug tests at employers expense after hiring, for the safety of themselves and others as they will be operating machinery. Must be physically able to lift up to 75lbs on a consistent basis throughout the day. While working in the field, cell phone usage is limited to emergency use only. Phones use must be limited to break times and lunch break. Due to safety concerns on a farm, workers must understand basic instructions in English.
Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of 6 months verifiable experience performing the tasks described.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures
- Lifting requirement of 75 lbs.
- Repetitive movements, extensive pushing/pulling, and frequent stooping/bending.
- Post-hire drug screen at employer's expense.
- The employer will provide 4 days of training to allow workers to pick a minimum of 100 bu boxes of apples per day with no more than 4% bruising.
