The Lab is primarily supported by the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Science. Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA) operates and manages the Laboratory for DOE. BSA is a partnership between Battelle and The Research Foundation for the State University of New York on behalf of Stony Brook University. Position Description Student Assistant for summer employment. The student assistant will participate in the analysis of quantum error correcting codes in the context of hybrid analog-digital quantum computers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in the design of code architecture and detection-correction cycles. Test results on classical and quantum computing platforms. Assist in preparation of the results for publications. Position Requirements Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Upper level college or graduate level student pursuing a STEM degree Ability to adopt and device appropriate mathematical tools to carry out analysis in topological quantum field theories. Familiarity with the basics of quantum information and topological quantum error correcting codes. Ability to code in Mathematica and Python. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working understanding of with quantum mechanics Familiarity with quantum field theory OTHER INFORMATION: The duration of the project is 9 weeks, starting in June and ending in August.
