Organizational Overview The mission of the Stakeholder and Community Relation Office is to develop best-in-class communications, science education, and community involvement programs that advance the science and science education missions of the Laboratory. The Office of Educational Programs administers a variety of summer programming through its college programs. Position Description The Summer Policy Student (SPS) will interface between the Office of Educational Programs (OEP) and all the interns, teachers, and college professors during their participation in the summer programs. This SPS will report directly to the University Program Manager, collaborate with OEP Administrative Assistants, and interact with the writing coach while performing, but not limited to, the duties and skills listed below. This position is on-site. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in scheduling, coordinating, and planning intern summer activities, meetings, and lectures as needed. Enforce BNL safety regulations and program expectations. Assist in monitoring intern deliverables. Support students and program leads in program deliverables as needed. Chaperone during on-site and/or off-site activities. Provide a final report on lessons learned for the summer program. Position Requirements Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be an upper-level college or graduate student enrolled in STEM. Must work well in diverse group settings. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Formal or informal teaching experience. Bilingual skills. Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements: Outdoor field trip considerations (sun, heat, ticks).
