Position Summary Information

Position Summary

  • Monitors and evaluates student performance and provides a structure for academic support delivery to YSLPP students by school site staff.

  • Trains YSLPP school site staff and Utica University tutors in pedagogical techniques proven to enhance student performance.

Major Responsibilities

  • Works with Assistant Director to monitor student performance on quarterly progress reports, report cards and on state and local exams. Uses this data to direct priorities of school site staff and tutors delivering academic support.

  • Assists Proctor High School site staff with day-to-day classroom management.

  • Holds training sessions with school site staff and Utica University tutors on topics related to academic instruction.

  • Works with Assistant Director to ensure compliance with NYSED grant.

  • Manages the academic intervention plans for YSLPP students placed on academic probation.

  • Participates in the planning and implementation of Summer Program curriculum.

  • Responsible for working with supervisor and other team members to achieve successful results on all established individual and departmental goals and key performance indicators.

  • Takes an active role in the development of the department’s strategic and operational plans as required by department leadership.

  • Works closely with department supervisor to develop and implement operational goals that support departmental success.

  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

This position may occasionally involve regional travel using a University-owned or University-rented vehicle.

Education & Experience Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three years in classroom setting required; Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of age-appropriate instructional techniques

  • Familiarity with New York State requirements for the Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation

  • Multi-tasking

  • Prioritizing

  • Organization

  • Strong Communication Skills (written and verbal)

  • Relate to children of all ages and ethnic backgrounds

  • Creative problem solving

  • Computer skills

  • Preferred: Possession of a valid U.S. driver’s license that will meet insurance company rules and regulations for driving underwriting criteria

  • Must be able to work flexible hours if necessary
