The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time STEM GEAR UP Program Assistant on our Rome Campus. The STEM GEAR UP Program Assistant is part of our College Pipeline Program department and will provide STEM instruction to GEAR UP middle and high school students in support of the GEAR UP grant's STEM priority as well as improve GEAR UP students' academic performance through a delivery of a wide range of instructional support.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Designs and implement STEM educational activities in GEAR UP classrooms, workshops, and summer programs for program participants; Maintains a structured classroom environment that is conducive to promoting learning; Teaches hands on experiential learning style activities and inspires students to reach for higher level outcomes; Develops instructional strategies that connects GEAR UP STEM curriculum in allowing students to maintain cultural identity as well as succeeding academically, socially, and emotionally; Develops and maintains relationships with program partners and school district staff and administration; Maintains STEM supplies and equipment used by program participants in a safe operating condition; Orders STEM supplies, materials and equipment or recommends such items for order as directed by the Director of College Pipeline Programs; Maintains accurate data, records, and student files to document all services delivered to program participants; Performs duties as related to this job description and as assigned by the Director of College Pipeline Programs. Required Qualifications:
Associate degree in a STEM field with three (3) years experience in the field of specialization Ability to travel to multiple work locations, work a flexible schedule that includes occasional evenings and Saturdays Possession of a valid driver license at the time of hire and for duration of employment Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree Experience working with middle school and high school students, college level teaching/tutoring Special Instructions to Applicants: Official academic transcripts required upon hire.
