Location(s):Utica, NY and Rome, NY

Salary: 11 month (school year) position $47,210.00 Summer Month of July, School break 1 week December and 1 week April Paid. Paid Leave 5 Personal Days, 14 Paid Holidays, 9 Sick Days

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 3:00pm or 8am-3:30pm.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide direct and competent supervision to ensure the safety and security of children at all times in accordance with Head Start, NY State Office of Children and Families regulations and supports MVCAA, Inc. Supervision of Children policy in the classroom, during outdoor experiences and field trips. Attends to the physical needs of the children (diapering, toileting, feeding, resting, rocking and holding children). Implements a child-centered, developmentally appropriate curriculum and learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation to promote development in all domains for children and supports children in progression of School Readiness Goals and objectives. Responsible for development and implementation and display of lesson plans in cooperation with parents/guardians/families. Responsible for completion of developmental and behavioral screenings on all children within 45 days of child's entrance into program, utilizing results for individualized planning and referrals as needed. Responsible for working in partnership with parents/guardians/families to develop an individual plan for each child including goal setting based on identified needs and activities to meet established child outcomes. Integrate Individual Education Plans (IEP's) for children with documented disabilities. Collects and records children's progress to complete accurate assessments at 3 or 4 points in the year and individualize curriculum. Analyze classroom level child outcome data report and implement a plan to promote greater outcomes for children in partnership with parent(s)/guardian(s)/families. Addresses challenging behaviors by observing to determine the possible causes of the behavior, implementing preventive developmentally appropriate measures, teaching the child new social and communication skills and partnering with families to support the child at home. Participates in meals with the children as a curriculum activity, to model good nutrition and developmentally appropriate social skills for children age birth to 5. Secures substitutes for all absences. Supervise, trains, delegate's tasks and evaluates Assistant Teachers, Classroom Aides, volunteers, substitutes and interns within the classroom. Completes custodial duties not provided by the lease agreement. Understands, generates and documents in-kind and other allowable costs toward the non-federal share requirement.

Qualifications: Must possess a current New York State Preschool Certification Birth - 2. Ability to travel to all sites, trainings and home visits as necessary and required. Able to communicate with children and families as well as maintain accurate records. Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality and privacy. Adheres to agency personnel policies and procedures. Attends trainings and meetings as required. Basic computer literacy in email, word processing and internet navigation. Knowledge and experience working with families and children with low income and diverse cultures. Background check, fingerprint screen, physical exam and TB. Must be able to move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to move throughout classroom, building, gross motor areas, and outside venues during a field trip. Must be able to interact with children at the child's level.
