This Opportunity

Our Transportation Team is seeking a Senior Summer 2023 Structural Engineering Intern to work out of our Valhalla, NY office.

Your Impact

  • Assist more experienced Engineers in broader Engineering activities.

  • Perform basic calculations and routine Engineering functions.

  • Prepare sketches and drawings including using various types of CADD design software.

  • Assist with quantity and cost estimates.

  • Assist with field work, including bridge inspection.

  • Assisting in preparing contract documents.

  • Document research and Field investigation.

  • Complete training on assigned tasks.

  • Excercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related Masters or PhD program.

  • Demonstrated interest in Structural Engineering, or related field, and have a strong desire to learn engineering skills related to structural and civil projects, and advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.

  • Must have completed basic foundational courses including: Intro to Engineering, AutoCAD, Engineering Drafting course, and Mechanics/Statics

  • Comfortable presenting ideas, projects and solutions to clients and executives in a polished, professional manner.

  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

  • Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Micro station and/or AutoCAD and a knowledge of reading drawings.

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification.

  • Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.

  • A member of and/or activity participate in local professional practive organizations.

Expected Salary: $17.00 - $27.00 per hour

WSP USA is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
