Sodexo at Willow Point Commissary Kitchen Processor in Vestal, New York
Commissary Kitchen Processor - This position is responsible for preparing, assembling, and packaging food items while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. The main function is to assist in the preparation of hot and cold foodstuffs for delivery to campus dining units. Cleans and sanitizes workstations and assembles/disassembles production equipment/machinery. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.
General Responsibilities:
Reads recipes and/or product directions.
Estimates food requirements.
Operates a variety of kitchen processing equipment/utensils to weigh, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, grind, stir, strain, seasons and knead foodstuffs for cooking, serving, and storing.
Assists in the preparation of hot and/or cold foods, and properly stores food, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage.
Inspects workstations for compliance with service standards.
Keeps records and requisition for supplies/equipment as needed.
Cleans and sanitizes workstations and assembles/disassembles production equipment following all Sodexo, ServSafe, client and regulatory rules and procedures.
May taste test products.
Must have basic cooking responsibilities, i.e., cook vegetables, chicken for salads.
Attending all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.
Complies with all Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures.
Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures. Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments. Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Inspects workstations for compliance with service standards.
Job Qualifications
Experience and Knowledge:
High School diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
Previous food service experience preferred.
Able to read, write, and effectively communicate.
Skill/Aptitude:
Presents self in a highly professional manner to others and understands that honesty and ethics are essential.
Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
Ability to communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism and respect.
Maintains a professional relationship with all coworkers, vendor representatives, supervisors, managers, customers, and client representatives.

Advanced food handling skills.

General Qualifications
Physical Requirements:
Requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds.
Able to squat, bend, stoop, push, and reach.
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
Working Conditions:
The work area in the kitchen commissary will be maintained between 35-40 F. Proper coats, gloves, and PPE will be provided to all employees working in the commissary by Sodexo.
Automated food processing equipment will in operation during Most of the Shift.
Unit Description:
This Unit will process various cuts of produce, deli meats and prepared food items to be packaged and distributed to various food service outlets for, but not limited to, Binghamton University. Processing will be accomplished either manually and or with Automated machinery. Maintaining Food safety standards according to local regulatory and Sodexo specifications.
