Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. Must be flexible to meet current and future business needs, and work occasional weekend hours during tax season. While we have an immediate need for this position, we are willing to hire post- tax season.

Primary Accountability:

Cooper Haims Advisors, LLC., is a registered investment advisor and wholly owned subsidiary of ESL Investment Services LLC. The purpose of this position is to deliver tax services to Cooper/Haims clients including all aspects of the tax compliance cycle, tax projections, and proactive tax planning strategies. This position will have direct client interaction/responsibility with respect to these services.

Principle Accountabilities:

Tax Preparation and Compliance

  • Prepare and review income tax, gift tax, pass-through entity and fiduciary tax returns utilizing tax software and programs.

  • Ensure tax returns are filed in timely manner.

  • Communicate status of tax return preparation to clients and manage/resolve open items.

  • Review and respond to IRS and state tax notices and audits.

  • Monitor current tax compliance rules and regulations.

Tax Planning

  • Identify and develop tax planning strategies for clients to mitigate overall tax liability.

  • Prepare and review income tax projections.

  • Evaluate and analyze client data and make actionable recommendations based on current tax laws.

  • Perform detailed tax research to analyze and advise on specific client matters.

  • Identify and communicate best practices in tax planning to other team members.

Client Management

  • Communicate with clients to resolve tax issues and implement any tax savings strategies.

  • Maintain communication with clients to ensure deadlines are met and to resolve any open items or client concerns.

  • Present tax projections and planning opportunities directly to clients.

  • Respond to any client inquiries related to tax services.

Mentor

  • Help to develop tax team members through education and collaboration

  • Promote development of tax staff to encourage individual progression and ensure appropriate level of staffing is maintained.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required

  • CPA license required

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in public accounting/tax

  • Experience with High Net Worth clients

  • Experience with gift tax returns, trusts, partnerships, and other entity returns strongly preferred

  • Attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

  • Experience with tax software and programs

  • Strong knowledge of tax laws and procedures.

  • Masters degree is preferred
