Laundry and Dry Cleaning Worker - 17 fulltime, temporary, peakload (H-2B) jobs available 4/1/2023-10/14/2023.

Duties: Receive, load/unload & mark articles for laundry or dry cleaning with identifying code numbers/names using hand or machine markers, clean fabrics using vacuums or air hoses, clean machine filters/lubricate equipment, determine spotting procedures & proper solvents based on fabric/stain types, examine & sort articles to be cleaned according to color/fabric/dirt content/cleaning technique, fold, mark, iron or press articles/fabrics/furs using hand irons or pressing machines, load articles into washers/dry cleaning machines, operate dry cleaning machines, operate washers, extractors, dryers & other related Laundry and Dry Cleaning Worker activities as per SOC/OES 51-6011 (onetonline.org)
Requirements: Must be 18 due to equipment use. Must show proof of legal authority to work in the U.S. Drug/Alcohol/Tobacco free work zone. Must perform physical activities such as lift, balance, walk, stoop, handle, position, move, manipulate materials, use static strength to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, carry objects up to 50 lbs.
No education or experience required. On-the-job training is available.
All applicants must be able, willing, qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified.
Random drug/alcohol testing possible post-hire at employer discretion and expense. Positive test/refusal to abide = dismissal.
Work days: M-F, possible weekend/holiday work. Employees can expect to work various shifts between the hours of operation 7am-10pm, 8.5 hour shifts with one 30-minute lunch break are standard. 40+ hours/week at $15.55/hour or higher depending on experience. OT possible, but not required or guaranteed, at $23.33/hour. At employer's discretion, possible raises and/or bonuses based on individual factors such as work performance or skill (not guaranteed).
Hours may fluctuate based on tourism peaks and valleys throughout the season (+/-) possible downtime and/or OT.
Wage advances may apply if requested by worker with repayment in accordance with the New York labor laws.
A single workweek will be used to compute wages due. Workers will be paid weekly on Wednesday. All deductions from the worker's paycheck required by law will be made.
Employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.
Employer guarantees to offer at least 3/4 of the work hours in each 12-week period.
H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees).
Any worker who voluntarily abandons employment is not entitled to payment for outbound transportation or the full 3/4 guarantee described above.
Transportation (including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, if the worker completes half the employment period. Return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer. Daily subsistence rates are $14.00/day without receipts or up to $59.00/day with receipts.
