YARD WORKER/NON CDL DRIVER (Seasonal)HOURS:Minimum of Thirty Hours. Flexible to the needs of White’s Lumber, Inc.Must be able to work weekends as deemed necessary.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR G.E.D. THE PERSON MUST BE ABLE TO LIFT A HUNDRED POUNDS. POSSES VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE.IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:Yard ForemanKEY INDICATORS:1.Being familiar with the grades, dimensions, and species of lumber in stock, and other merchandise stored in the yard or warehouse.2.Adherence to all safety regulations.3. Wait on customers.GENERAL DUTIES: A Yard worker loads and unloads materials, stores materials in warehouse and yard, waits on customers in yard, and maintains good housekeeping in yard and warehouse. 1.Wait on “pick up” customers and help them load materials.2.Load trucks and customers vehicles as needed.3.Pull and stage materials to be loaded.4.Store materials in their proper location.5.Operate machinery as required in the performance of ones duties.6.Be familiar with all inventory items and their location.7.Adherence at all times to all safety and fire regulations.8.Drive and perform maintenance on lift trucks as duties require and in accordance with safety regulations and company procedures.9.Keep yard clean and merchandise orderly by picking up trash, bands, lumber covers, and keeping materials products in a neat and orderly fashion.10.Inspect work area daily and report any safety issues to immediate supervisor.11.Use proper material handling techniques to reduce damage to goods and personal injury.12.Unload and store incoming shipments of merchandise.13.Verify counts of incoming merchandise or shipments.14.Be familiar with the grades, dimensions, and species of lumber in stock, and other merchandise stored in yard or warehouse.15.Being able to tolerate and function in diverse seasonal climate changes.16.Assume other duties as workload and need dictate.17.Attend/Participate in in-service training.OTHER DUTIES:1.Drive a truck or van with a capacity of under 26,00 GVW, primarily to deliver or pick up merchandise or to deliver building material.2.Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.3.Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.4.Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.5.Turn in receipts and money received from deliveries6.Complete driver inspection reports.7.Load and deliver merchandise safely and efficiently to customer.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit the majority of the working day. The employee will be frequently handling/fingering various products. Occasionally, the employee will be reaching outward, above the shoulders, climbing, squatting and bending. The employee will occasionally lift or carry products twenty pounds or less. The employee will frequently lift or carry products between twenty and fifty pounds. The employee will occasionally be required to lift products in excess of fifty pounds, upward to one hundred and fifty pounds.WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics outlined are example of those an employee will encounter while performing the essential job functions.
