Summary

This position is located in the Wellsville VA Outpatient Clinic in Wellsville, NY. The position is under the Medical VA Care Line of the VA Medical Center, Bath, NY. The Physician will serve as a Staff Physician in Primary Care for the Wellsville OPC.

Responsibilities

Duties include: · Work with a multidisciplinary team that includes nursing, social work, dietetics, clinical pharmacy, behavioral health and clerical support. · Perform and record history and physical examinations, and record data from clinic visit. · Evaluate, consult, develop diagnoses, and manage the primary care panel of patients assigned. · Enter progress notes in computerized medical record and complete workload documentation in a timely manner. · Provide medical care encompassing acute and chronic medical conditions and all appropriate preventive care for female veterans. · Order diagnostic tests, medications, laboratory tests as medically relevant for each patient. · See patients via VA approved, secure video and telemedicine modalities. · Provide timely follow-up on results, including completion of view alerts. · Determine medical assessment and develop treatment plans according to accepted protocols. · Prescribe medication according to approved formulary, and in accordance with Federal and State Law. · Collaborate with an assigned mid-level provider and complete collaborative case reviews as assigned.

Work Schedule: Full-time. Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required

Relocation MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/31/2019. Basic Requirements: - United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. - Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. - Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. - Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. - Proficiency in spoken and written English. - Physical requirements outlined below.

Preferred Experience: Due to primary care duties, Board Certification in Internal/Family Medicine is preferred.

Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.

This position is eligible for EDRP. The Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) is a recruitment incentive that may be offered on a case by case basis to new permanently appointed employees based upon the availability of funding. Employees must owe any amount or principal and interest under a government (Federal, state, or local) or commercial loan. These loans must have been used to pursue the degree that was used to qualify the individual for the appointed position. It is important to note that to utilize the EDRP program the employee must first make payments totaling at least the amount of the EDRP award before being reimbursed annually.
