The Eastern Territorial Headquarters in West Nyack, NY has a Summer Part-Time opening for an Editorial Team member.
As a member of the Literary Team, this creative individual will assist the Editor–in–Chief in organizing a one–day, magazine writer and distributor’s virtual conference that will update attendees on the mission, purpose, protocols, and content of SACONNECTS magazine, which is the official magazine of the USA Eastern Territory. Additionally, this individual will design an online newsletter that will include tips on how to use SACONNECTS magazine to increase the customer count at our thrift stores, maintain repeat customers, as well as request feedback and comments that will cultivate ongoing conversation.
The Editorial Team Member will also work closely with the managing editor, senior writer, and the circulation administrator, as well as the Design Team and Social Media Team to design and promote the virtual conference.
Responsibilities
Establish and maintain an accurate list of territorial correspondents
Establish and maintain an accurate list of participating thrift store managers
Prepare written announcements and reports that keep newsletter readers informed
Handle projects from start to finish
Assist in the organization of the conference agenda
Participate and assist in all aspects of liaison activities with correspondents
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
1 year of college
1+ years of related experience - editorial/writing; event planning is a plus
Possess strong oral and written communication skills
Possess proficient editing skills
Basic knowledge of online communication strategies, social media platforms, and marketing
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook)
Must be Apple computer proficient
Ability to take initiative and work independently when needed
Practice a team–minded approach to the creative process
