Elderwood at Wheatfield is Hiring a FT Maintenance Supervisor!

Maintenance Supervisor team members assist with ensuring the health and well-being of our

residents by being responsible for the operation of a maintenance and repair program involving

buildings, furnishings and grounds; coordination of maintenance and repair activities with functions of other departments.

Shift: Monday - Friday day shift, including occasional evening, weekend and holiday coverage

  • Plans, directs and supervises maintenance program for heating, cooling, plumbing, water, gas, electrical, mechanical, oxygen, and communication systems; performs carpentry, painting, plastering, refinishing, flooring and similar work; manages care of grounds, maintenance of institutional equipment and vehicles, and operation of power plant.

  • Schedules maintenance or repair, replacement and new installations of equipment and power plant machinery.

  • Performs duties involving maintenance of grounds, parking lots, driveways (including snow removal, except if performed under service contract).

  • Plans and keeps records of a written preventative maintenance program.

  • Keeps records of all maintenance work performed and costs involved.

  • Orients, instructs and supervises other maintenance personnel; assigns duties and evaluates work performance.

  • Ensures that residents' rights are observed and that dignity, and privacy of residents are respected by department staff.

  • Requisitions supplies and equipment for use in department activities and keeps an inventory record of these items.

  • Coordinates work of maintenance department with other department functions so as not to interrupt resident care or normal business functions.

  • Meets with Administration staff periodically to discuss maintenance needs concerning structure, equipment and grounds; and maintenance problems on an ongoing basis.

  • Supervises the work performed by outside service contractors.

  • Attends or leads in-service programs.

  • Maintains knowledge of and observes sanitation and infection control precautions; remains alert to safety hazards to self and others.

  • Maintains department costs within the parameters of the budget.

  • Minimum 18 yrs. age required, HS diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Graduation from a technical program preferred.

  • Valid Drivers License and clean driving record required.

  • Position-related and supervisory experience required.

  • Competency in skills of plumbing, heating and air conditioning, electrical systems, carpentry and general building maintenance necessary.

  • Knowledge of building regulations for a residential health care facility preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints necessary.

  • Ability to supervise people and work cooperatively with others required.
