Cardinal Health Advisor Category Planning & Analysis in Whitestone, New York

Function: Marketing -- At Cardinal Health, the marketing organization is the central hub of business driving activity. Family: Category Management -- Category management is responsible for cross functional collaboration that helps to deliver sales, profitability and inventory productivity goals by capitalizing on retail marketplace and shopper trends in designated categories. Manages and optimizes supplier relationships and product portfolio to drive financial results, increase market share and exceed customer expectations.

  • Collaborates with cross functional teams including pricing, marketing, legal, QRA, planning, inventory management, finance, sales & operations to meet customer expectations and achieve merchandising objectives​.
  • Owns and optimizes the category assortment planning and planogram review process. Initiates, negotiates and drives execution of category promotional plans.
  • Maintains positive trade relations and fosters key supplier relationships. Assesses opportunities and gains competitive advantage in negotiations.
  • Develops and deploys strategic category plans & innovative merchandising programs to deliver industry leading results. Obtains category/product expertise, in-depth market and competitive intelligence and knowledge.
  • Efficiently assimilates large amounts of information; exhibits strong financial acumen; exhibits the ability to assess sales patterns based on SKU data and other sources.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Collaborates with cross functional teams including pricing, marketing, legal, QRA, planning, inventory management, finance, sales & operations to meet customer expectations and achieve merchandising objectives
  • Prepares and analyzes data. This can include locating, sourcing, cleansing, profiling, extracting, mapping, importing, transforming, validating, and modeling
  • Ability to analyze and integrate external market data from vendors such as Nielsen
  • Works with marketing manager to ensuremarketing/promotionalvehicles support the category sales & margin targets
  • Analyze and reflect current trends in performance based on actual sales performance; revise in-season plans to maximize sales and profitability
  • Partner with Category Managers to develop and devise tactics in response to current business trends using both internal and external data
  • Monitor non-productive/slow move inventory; collaborate with Inventory Management and Category Manager to devise and execute action plans that reduces unproductive inventory
  • Working with Category Manager to identify product assortment opportunities through analytical support
  • Analyze performance relative to budget and trend for sales and margin
  • Collaborate with Marketing on ROI analytics
  • Ad hoc reporting as needed, interprets results, identifies trends and issues, and develops recommendations
  • Coordinate and manage Retail Business Conference planning and order execution
  • Manage Consumer Health pricing initiative
  • Some travel may be required

Preferred Qualifications / Capabilities:

  • 1-3 years of previous advanced analytics experience
  • Financial planning or financial analysis experience may be considered
  • Exposure to relevant planning, finance, analytical, data management disciplines
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; strong aptitude with numbers and financial metrics such as GMROI, Inventory turnover, etc.
  • Experience with technology such as: Alteryx, Tableau, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, SQL, R, SAS
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
  • Identifies/influencescritical stakeholders - proactively problem solves and recommends solutions
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, concisely presents complexinformation/recommendations
  • Ability to articulate detailed action plans, and ability to influence others in accomplishing the business goal
  • Understands and executes against business strategies and goals
  • Ability to make decisions with limited information but also able to synthesize large quantities of data to drive business decisions
  • Bachelor's degree required; preferably in finance, economics, business, mathematics, statistics
