Job Title: Host / Hostess

Job Area: Mulligan's / Seasons / Tavern 23 / The Club

Department: Food and Beverage

Reports To: Culinary Services Manager

Overview of Position: A Host/Hostess coordinates the activities of dining room personnel to provide fast and courteous service to our guests. They routinely interact with both staff and guests and they are also responsible for maintaining a clean and safe dining atmosphere.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must be comfortable interacting with both staff and guests in a friendly and helpful manner.

  • Must be able to handle a stressful, noisy and crowded work environment.

  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and to remain standing for an entire work shift.

  • Must be clean, neat and very organized.

  • Must be self-motivated and willing to take the initiative.

  • Must be familiar with fine dining standards, practices, banquet operations and methods of service.

  • Have knowledge of Windham Mountain Area, programs, brochure, schedule of events, and daily snow reports.

Job Duties: The list below best represents many of the tasks you will be asked to perform at some time during your employment at Windham Mountain. This list of duties is not intended to represent all of the tasks you may be asked to perform, however Windham Mountain will never require you to perform a task that is inherently unsafe or that you are not adequately trained to perform.

  • Greet and welcome all guests upon arrival.

  • Serve guests in a courteous, efficient, and professional manner and in accordance with standards of service as outlined in training.

  • Complete familiarization of the menu.

  • Check tables prior to opening to ensure that they are properly set.

  • Keep work area clean and neat at all times.

  • Direct wait and bus staff and assist them in any way possible.

  • Maintain the front entrance area in a controlled, fair, pleasant manner.

  • At all times be friendly, polite and courteous to guests.

It is important to note that while staff is involved in the promotion of a festive atmosphere and the service of alcohol, we expect our employees to maintain a professional appearance and refrain from indulging in any consumption what so ever during work hours.

Work Schedule and Conditions: We are in the business of providing a quality product and experience for our guests. Traditionally our busy periods are during weekends and holiday periods which you will be expected to work. You can also expect to be asked to work extra hours or days on occasion, especially during the holiday periods.

We will attempt to offer consecutive days off and accommodate special scheduling requests, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to satisfy all requests. We expect employees to arrive promptly.

Dress Code:

  • Name Tag must always be worn - no exceptions.

  • Employees are expected to dress in business casual attire uless the day's tasks require otherwise.

  • Black pants and a black uniform shirt are required.

  • Employees must always present a clean and professional appearance. Everyone is expected to be well-groomed and wear clean clothing, free of holes, tears or other signs of wear.

  • Clothing with offensive or inappropriate designs or stamps are not allowed.

  • Clothing should not be revealing.

  • Clothing and grooming styles dictated by religion or ethicity are exempt.

If you are hired, please take time to read through it for a thorough description of Windham Mountain's procedures and policies. Please ask your supervisor if you have questions so that you understand the content of the handbook before you sign it.
