Overview of Position: A MTB Patroller is responsible for all mountain safety activities such as opening and closing trails, removing, reporting and marking hazards, reporting trail conditions, performing trail checks, responding to possible accidents, providing emergency medical care, mountain rescue, lift evacuation and transport. This is a highly skilled and responsible position.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must be an advanced Mountain Bike Rider.

  • Must be certified as an EMT, OEC, or Paramedic.

  • Must have strong communication skills, written and verbal.

  • Must be mature and responsible.

  • Must have the ability perform a mountain rescue and transport on the most difficult terrain.

Job Duties: The list below best represents many tasks you will be asked to perform at some time during your employment here at Windham Mountain Resort. We cannot predict all the challenges that we many face in providing the product our guests expect. We will never ask you to perform a task that is inherently unsafe or that you are not adequately trained to perform.

  • On a daily basis monitor the terrain to assure that Windham Mountain Resort meets or exceeds all state and federal laws, codes, rules and regulations regarding safety for riding.

  • Open lifts and trails prior to public access to assure their safe and proper condition.

  • Make sure that all trail and warning signs are in good order and properly placed.

  • Make sure that all trail markings including signs, fences and ribbon are in good condition and properly placed.

  • Make sure that trail conditions are monitored and accurately reported.

  • Make sure that all trail hazards are properly marked.

  • Respond to reports of accidents with appropriate rescue equipment.

  • Perform first aid and mountain rescue as needed.

  • Observe and correct, or properly mark if necessary, any trail conditions adversely affected by trafic, weather, or other manmade or natural occurrences.

  • Perform lift evacuations as required.

  • Work with other departments to accomplish objectives.

  • Assist guests as needed in any way possible.

  • Serve as radio dispatcher at a summit location.

  • Complete accident reports and all necessary paperwork and documentation.

Work Schedule and Conditions: We are in the business of providing a quality product and experience for our guests. Traditionally our busy periods are during weekends and holiday periods which you will be expected to work. You can also expect to be asked to work extra hours or days on occasion, especially during the holiday periods.

We expect employees to be to work on time. If you require unscheduled time off please give adequate advanced notice.

Dress Code:

  • Name Tag must always be worn – no exceptions.

  • Uniform will be worn while on the clock and shall be cleaned regularly.
