Job Title: NASTAR Race Staff

Job Area: NASTAR Racecourse

Department: Snow Sports School

Reports To: NASTAR Race Coordinator

Overview of Position: Assist the NASTAR Race Coordinator on racecourse set up, timing, registration, awards, and other duties affiliated with the NASTAR program.

Job Duties:

  • Stimulate and cultivate an active interest in the racing program.

  • Participate in both instruction and demonstration.

  • Assist in race registration. This includes responsible handling and accountability of revenue in addition to accurate record keeping.

  • Assist setting courses that are appropriate for the conditions and racers participating. Safety is a primary concern.

  • Display sponsor or special banners as requested by area management.

  • Accurately and effectively operate communication lines and computerized timing equipment. This includes maintenance, repair, and improvement of existing equipment.

  • Provide recreational racer instructions to interested guests. Individual attention is very important for racers to receive maximum benefit.

  • Compute results for NASTAR and special races.

  • Communicate and work directly with The NASTAR Coordinator for special events, promotions, and group races.

Job Qualifications:

  • Advanced skiing/riding ability.

  • A racing background is preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Good employee management skills.

  • Be innovative and open minded about improving the workings and operations of the department.

Work Schedule and Conditions: We are in the business of providing an Above and Beyond product and guest experience. Traditionally our busy periods are during weekends and holiday periods which you will be expected to work. You can also expect to be asked to work extra hours or days on occasion, especially during the holiday periods.

  • Must be able to work outside during adverse winter weather.

  • Must be able to carry 50 pounds on snow-covered slopes.
